Because of the unstable flow of income, one source of money isn’t enough to fund the living costs of the majority of the local which is mostly composed of fishermen. The amount of fish a fisherman catches depends on many factors, such as the weather, the seasons, the pricing in each day, and much more making income very flexible to change on a day to day basis. Locals have adapted by finding other ways to support their life, such as making “Krue Po” which is a local dish popularised through generations. This has made Da To a place that people can learn about Krue Po and the process of making this ordinary product that is storing the economy of this community.
Location overview
Ban Da To, Ya Ring, Pattani Province is a small muslim village located on the Talo Gapo Beach, near the Pattani Bay. Ban Da To has wonderful beaches and peninsula of both sides of the Thai Bay. As most locals are fishermen, they tend to fish in small boats with the method of using fish nets to trap fishes. The signature seafood that is Krue Po which is similar to fish crackers that has its own original flavour.
What makes this location so unique or so interesting?
The community supports itself. The locals have the ability to, while maintaining their main profession as fishermen, support themselves with the side hussle of selling Krue Po. Since Krue Po is a tradition passed down from generations to generations, it also has much added cultural value. In addition, there are more products produced from the locals that has received an OTOP (one tambon, one product) award such as sauce that is sold alongside Krue Po.
Quiet yet beautiful beach. The beaches such as the Ban Da To Beach which is a quiet little beach that you can rest and relax while admiring the local culture, like the antique mosque in Ba To that shows the traditional architecture that will surely intrigue you.

Tourists can directly fund the community by purchasing local goods to stimulate the local economy and create a flow of income for the people living in Da To.
